Michigan From The Heart knows Ann Arbor’s Best Kept Secret

Ann Arbor is known for its iconic musical venues; The Ark, Hill Auditorium, Mott Children’s Hospital. Well, maybe not so much the last one, but believe it or not some of the best music being played in town takes place every Thursday night at the “Skyline Café” on the eighth floor of Mott Children’s Hospital. That’s where Bob Huffman has been entertaining patients since 2007 with his renditions of various artists’ hits as well as his own original compositions.
Bob, affectionately known as “Guitar Bob” to the patients and staff, is a musical therapist at Mott Children’s Hospital. Along with co-worker Sarah Mellifont they have transformed the Family Resource Center into an intimate setting where patients can come and relax and listen to music with family and friends. Bob, who has cut his own CD is often accompanied by his wife Tracy who was a backup singer for Barry Manilow and The Carpenters in years past. Often times other guest singers and even an occasional audience participant join in on the fun.
During the session Child Life staffers serve dinner and desserts to patients and their families. After dinner a visit from our Michigan student athletes takes place in the Family Resource center or the patients individual rooms.
